| His
Roots are Planted in the Heartland.
Though
bluegrass music began in the eastern U.S.A., in its popularity it
has drifted as far as the west coast and around the world. Bluegrass
has stayed pure in its original form for the most part, but it has
also mixed well with other genres of music, such as country/western,
to form a new Texas hill country soundCountry/ Bluegrass.
My
latest CD, Hill Country Gospel, is played in this new Country/Bluegrass
style with all the familiar acoustic instruments. The Texas hill
country feel is wedded to the heart of old Kentucky. I hope that
you are not only entertained, but more importantly, moved, edified,
challenged, and encouraged in the Christian faith by these twelve
original songs meant for the glory of God.

Read His Review:
The
roots of American Bluegrass have undeniably
been nourished by Gospel music. So much so,
that we now have a genre of Bluegrass dedicated
solely to proclaiming the good news. We call
that genre Gospel Grass. If you are a fan of Gospel
Bluegrass, then you will certainly be surprised to
know that a rock solid Bluegrass/Country musician,
singer, and song-writer lives right here in the Hill
Country. His name is Bob Blackshear and he has
recently completed a twelve track album that you
are sure to enjoy.
On
Hill Country Gospel, Bob combines all the
essential elements of Bluegrass song writing with
his message of devotion and love. Bob enlisted
some fantastic musicians to round out his recordings.
They include, Tim Simpson, James Dinkins,
Mary Hattersly, Darvin Willhoite, and Greg Lowry.
My favorite songs
on Hill Country
Gospel are Mattersof the Heart,
There's a Crown Up in Heaven Just for You, and Stay
in the Field. I really enjoyed the songwriting of Bob Blackshear
and I hope you will too.
I hope you take the time to visit this talented Hill
Country songwriters web site.
